How to Host the Perfect Easter Egg Hunt (For Kids and Adults!)
Who doesn’t love Easter? ✝️
A time to celebrate the Lord, our Savior, and the most important gift in our lives… and also a beautiful excuse to gather, laugh, and create joyful memories with the people we love.
One of the most timeless (and fun!) ways to celebrate?
A good old-fashioned Easter egg hunt.
Whether it’s for little ones running through the yard with baskets… or adults competing like it’s the Olympics (because let’s be honest, we all have that competitive side 😏)… an Easter egg hunt brings people together in the best way.
🌷 Growing Up: Easter Was a Sport in Our Family
Growing up, my mom made sure we were always in the know about every Easter egg hunt happening around Tulsa.
We didn’t just attend… we strategized.
We’d arrive early.
We’d line up.
We’d map out the areas with the most eggs and the best prizes.
And more times than not, my brother Chad and I walked away with the most eggs—or the grand prize ones. Winning was fun… but the memories were even better.
If we weren’t hopping from hunt to hunt, we were:
- At church, watching our grandparents or cousins sing
- Hiding eggs for each other at home
- Coloring eggs in the kitchen (and occasionally… losing a few 😅)
And yes… nothing teaches you accountability faster than forgetting where you hid a real egg. The smell always finds you eventually… lol.
🤍 Why Hosting Easter Means More to Me Now
At this stage in my life, after everything I’ve been through with cancer treatments, I’ve come to accept that having children of my own isn’t part of my journey.
But I’ve also realized something really beautiful…
I can still create joy.
I can still create magic.
Hosting Easter egg hunts has become my way of filling that space—bringing smiles to children, laughter to families, and creating moments people might not otherwise experience.
And because I have the space (hello, 5 acres 🙌) and the means to do it… It has truly become one of my favorite traditions.
What started as something for friends’ kids… may soon grow into something even bigger—for clients, neighbors, and my community.
🏡 Step 1: The Perfect Venue
You don’t need 5 acres—but you do need a space where kids can safely roam and explore.
Great options:
- Your backyard
- A friend’s property
- A local park (with permission)
- Even a neighborhood common area
The key is space + visibility + safety.
💌 Step 2: Invitations That Keep You Organized
I personally use Canva to design my invites and attach a QR code linked to a Google Form.
This helps track:
- Number of kids attending
- Ages (important for egg zones!)
- Food planning
Plus… it just feels a little more polished ✨

🥚 Step 3: Eggs, Eggs… and More Eggs
This is where the magic happens.
I typically prepare:
- 400–600 eggs total
- Kids are happiest collecting about 15–25 eggs each
Inside the eggs:
- Candy (Amazon bulk bags are a lifesaver)
- Small toys (bracelets, cars, stickers, magnets)
Fun surprises
🏆 Step 4: Grand Prize Eggs (The Real MVPs)
This is what takes your event from fun to unforgettable.
Ideas:
- Golden eggs ✨
- Oversized eggs
- Printed notes: “Congratulations! You’re a grand prize winner!”
Prize ideas:
- Small stuffed animals
- Gift cards
- Toys
- Cash (for older kids… or adults 😉)
Set up a designated prize table so winners can redeem their finds.

🥕 Step 5: Food & Festive Snacks
Keep it simple, cute, and fun.
For main food:
- Chick-fil-A trays
- Subway sandwiches
For themed snacks:
- Carrot-shaped cheese ball with veggies & crackers 🥕 https://pin.it/1dpXLyosF
- Egg-shaped Rice Krispies – https://pin.it/3CgTVSfa5
- “Carrot” Cheeto bags wrapped in cellophane – https://pin.it/7ixXlgSP0
- Deviled eggs (a must!) – https://pin.it/5uZ2iiaue
- Peeps (for nostalgia) – https://pin.it/6lp3EemDl
- Easter cupcakes
- Watermelon popsicles – https://pin.it/73oXYxjTc
- Veggie platter – https://pin.it/1dpXLyosF
Add:
- Easter plates, napkins, and décor
- A fun welcome sign for the yard
(I’ve linked all my favorite ideas and recipes on my Pinterest—because yes, I went down that rabbit hole: https://pin.it/4zzXvQzXx🐰)

🐰 Step 6: Bring in the Easter Bunny
This is always a HIT.
You can usually hire someone locally for:
- $100–$200
- 30 minutes to 1 hour
Set up a little photo station so families can capture the moment 📸

🎨 Step 7: Activity Stations
Keep the kids entertained before and after the hunt:
- Egg coloring station (tablecloths = lifesaver 😅)
- Extra baskets for kids who forgot theirs
Music for a fun atmosphere (don’t forget a speaker!)
🚩 Step 8: Organize the Hunt Like a Pro
This is key to avoiding chaos.
Create age-based zones:
- 6 & under
- 7 – 10
- 11+
Tips:
- Younger kids = more visible eggs
- Older kids = more hidden + better prizes
- Use flags or signs for starting lines

🍾 Bonus: Adult Easter Egg Hunt (Yes… Do This 😂)
Trust me on this one.
Hide things like:
- Mini liquor bottles
- Cash
- Chocolates
- Beer
- Fun dares or prize notes
It gets competitive really fast… and it’s hilarious.
🐥 Extra Touch: Petting Zoo (If You Want to Go All Out)
If you really want to elevate things:
- Bunnies 🐰
- Chickens 🐔
It adds such a sweet, memorable touch—especially for the kids.
🌸 Final Thoughts: Just Have Fun With It
At the end of the day… It’s not about perfection.
It’s about:
- The laughter
- The excitement
- The memories being made
For me, hosting Easter has become something so much deeper than just an event.
It’s a way to give.
A way to connect.
A way to bring joy into the lives of others.
And truly… There is nothing more fulfilling than that.

With love and peace,
Tiffany 🤍
